It is with great remorse that I announce the end of the miniSPHERE mobile portal. This was a fun project that started back in 2006 when the mobile web was in its infancy. I had a great time designing it, took pride in upgrading it, and most of all, really enjoyed using it.

Mobicosm Announces the Launch of popSPHERE!
10/11/2007:
Mobicosm, already the provider of one of the top mobile web directories, miniSPHERE, has added a social bookmarking component called popSPHERE.
Using popSPHERE, users can add their own mobile links, share and discuss them with the popSPHERE community, view sites by order of popularity or date added, and add any popSPHERE site to their personalized miniSPHERE Homepage.
Throughout its time growing into one of the premier mobile web portals, miniSPHERE has received hundreds of submissions of mobile website requests for inclusion into the directory. However, miniSPHERE has also adhered to a strict promise to its users to only include the best mobile sites on the web, which sometimes meant very good sites were not added.
The result of this is that miniSPHERE users were then required to maintain both a miniSPHERE Homepage AND a list of other favorites that were local only to their devices. This policy goes against the Mobicosm's commitment to the mobile netizens of the world, and was the principle reason for creating popSPHERE.
popSPHERE provides a way for people to maintain one list of all of their favorite mobile links that is preserved on the web, and therefore accessible from any device that has an internet connection. Further, popSPHERE and miniSPHERE's search functionality provides a way to quickly find websites added by other people in the popSPHERE community and add them to your own miniSPHERE Homepage.

From its inception, Mobicosm has primarily targeted the Windows Mobile platform, while also trying to develop websites that were designed simply enough to provide usability on many other mobile web browsers including the Palm® Blazer and Opera Mobile. Due to the popularity and innovative nature of the iPhone, Mobicosm has decided to extend its reach to include support for the mobile netizens of the world who carry that device.
Mobicosm Announces the Launch of MobiAtom!
9/6/2007:
Mobicosm, creator of the top mobile web directory miniSPHERE, has added a free mobile RSS feed reader to their growing list of mobile web services. MobiAtom, a web-based feed reader that works with both desktop and mobile browsers, was launched today in Beta form, with registration being free and open to the public.
The desktop web-client provides a rich drag-and-drop interface that provides users the ability to quickly and easily manage their feeds and feed categories. The desktop version is also the principle source for adding, importing, exporting, and updating feeds, as the mobile web client has been scaled down in order to decrease the amount of bandwidth consumed during operation.
Once a user imports or adds a feed to MobiAtom, that feed is stored in a centrally accessible database that will deliver their feeds to any internet connected device with a supported web browser.
